At Semel Vision Care & Aesthetics, we provide personalized Radiesse® treatments in El Segundo to help you restore youthful contours and promote natural collagen production for lasting improvements in skin quality and firmness.
What Is Radiesse®?
Radiesse® is a unique, FDA-approved injectable filler that smooths lines and creases and helps rebuild the skin’s foundation. While many fillers are made of hyaluronic acid (HA), Radiesse® is composed of calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA) microspheres suspended in a water-based gel.
This formulation provides immediate volume and lift upon injection to fill deep folds and hollows. However, what sets Radiesse® apart is its ability to act as a biostimulator. As the gel is absorbed by your body over time, the CaHA microspheres remain behind to stimulate the formation of collagen, an essential protein for firm, youthful-looking skin.

Why Choose Us for Radiesse® in El Segundo?
Achieving beautiful results with Radiesse® requires a deep understanding of facial anatomy and an artistic eye. Because it is a substantial filler designed for structural support, precise placement is critical.
Board-certified ophthalmologist Dr. Jane Semel at Semel Vision Care & Aesthetics has extensive training in facial aesthetics. She prioritizes patient safety and satisfaction, ensuring that every injection provides natural-looking enhancement.
What to Expect After Radiesse® Injections
Radiesse® involves minimal downtime, so you will be able to return to most normal daily activities right away. You should, however, avoid strenuous exercise, extensive sun exposure, and makeup application for the first 24 hours to minimize the risk of infection or irritation.
Common post-treatment effects include mild swelling, bruising, redness, or tenderness at the injection sites. These symptoms are temporary and typically resolve within a few days to a week.
You will see an immediate improvement in volume and contour after your appointment. As the weeks pass, your results will continue to improve as your body produces new collagen for visible firming and tightening effects.
What to Expect During Your Treatment
A Radiesse® appointment at our El Segundo office can take as little as 15 to 30 minutes. We will begin by mapping the injection sites based on your unique bone structure and cosmetic goals.
Radiesse® can be mixed with lidocaine (an anesthetic), which significantly reduces discomfort during the injection process. Most patients report only a mild pinching or pressure sensation during treatment.

Who is a candidate for Radiesse®?
Adults in good general health who desire natural-looking, non-surgical facial rejuvenation or hand rejuvenation are often good candidates. Dr. Semel will assess your concerns, review your medical history, and speak with you about your cosmetic goals during your consultation, so she can determine if Radiesse® is the ideal treatment approach.
What is the difference between Radiesse® and other fillers?
Because Radiesse® has a thick consistency, it can be excellent for defining the jawline, augmenting the cheeks, and filling deep folds. However, it is generally not used in delicate areas like under the eyes.
