What Is the RxSight Light Adjustable Lens?

The RxSight Light Adjustable Lens (LAL) is an innovative photosensitive intraocular lens (IOL) that allows you and your doctor to customize your vision after your eye has healed from cataract surgery. Because the Light Adjustable Lens is made of a special material, it changes the shape and power of your implanted lens in response to ultraviolet (UV) light. Unlike traditional, non-adjustable IOLs, the LAL gives you and your doctor the ability to adjust and preview your vision outcomes based on your lifestyle and preferences.

How the Light Adjustable Lens Works

The cataract removal and IOL implantation process is the same as if you selected a non-adjustable IOL. Then, in the weeks that follow, Dr. Semel will customize your vision through a series of non-invasive light treatments that take only a few minutes each.
Most patients need three to five treatments over one to two weeks to reach their desired vision goals. Once optimal clarity is attained, a final “lock-in” treatment stabilizes your results for lasting precision.

I recently tried a new product from Dr. Jane Semel called SkinPen. One thing I really like about
Dr. Semel is that she always stays on top of new facial and neck products for women. SkinPen is the latest in technology to help the neck and face. It’s not an injection. Before the treatment, my face was gently cleansed. Then Dr. Semel used what looks like a pen and runs it over my neck and every area of my face which feels like a slight stinging that does not hurt. This treatment lasts about 30 minutes. It promotes a healing process of collagen and elastin that continues for months afterwards.
